If you find a hedgehog in need of help!

Contain it in a high-sided cardboard box

Give it a towel to snuggle under

Add a source of warmth (a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel)

Offer water to drink but NO FOOD

Do NOT attempt to care for it yourself - it needs immediate professional help!

Contact Irene immediately on 07950 933410 or take it straight to a Veterinary practice

(Note that a veterinary practice will not charge members of the public for taking in a wild animal)

Mission statement

Our mission is to provide for the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured or orphaned hedgehogs.

The rescue's main hub is based in Lowton, with satellite units run by medically trained volunteers and a team of foster carers who enable treated animals to gain weight prior to release back to the wild.

On-site training is provided to volunteers, and they are encouraged to enroll on recognised wildlife courses.

Advice and assistance is available directly to any member of the public who finds a sick or injured hedgehog, and we work closely with local veterinary practices to provide follow-up care.

Talks are given to adult and children’s groups/organizations to raise awareness of the needs of hedgehogs and the work of the Rescue, and public events are attended to engage with a wider audience.
